Once a week mail suddenly arrives with delay across the board
Often a secondary MX record that is slow or unreliable. Sending servers fall back there when the primary briefly stutters.
Try this first
- 1List your MX records and note the priorities. Two equal MXes is usually not what you want.
- 2Keep one primary MX on low priority and only use a fallback MX you know works and serves the same mailbox.
- 3Test the fallback by temporarily blocking the primary in a test setup, not production.
- 4Remove old, forgotten MX records from a previous provider; that is a frequent cause.
