Which IT costs can I deduct as a Dutch freelancer?

Most business IT costs are deductible as business expenses and VAT is reclaimable. For laptops and pricier hardware, depreciation usually applies, not one-off deduction.

Try this first

  1. 1Software subscriptions, hosting and domain are standard deductible plus VAT-reclaimable when used for business.
  2. 2Hardware above a threshold amount is depreciated over 3 or 5 years, handled in your bookkeeping software.
  3. 3For mixed private-business use (e.g. mobile, home internet) you deduct the business share, not 100 percent.
  4. 4If in doubt ask your accountant, rules around work-cost scheme and investment deduction change and are not the same for every freelancer.
