What does Managed IT actually cost for a 10-person SMB
No fixed number, but an honest breakdown. A full package for ten people is not 50 euros a month and not 5000 either.
Try this first
- 1Add up what is already running: Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace per user, MFA tool, backup, antivirus or EDR, any firewall or VPN subscription. That is the SaaS floor.
- 2Include hardware depreciation. Business laptops typically run 3 years on the books, monitors and docks 5 years. Divide the purchase price by the lifespan to get monthly cost per employee.
- 3Estimate support hours. For ten people we see on average 2 to 6 hours a month in practice. Multiply by an SMB hourly rate (on request) or ask for a fixed retainer.
- 4Add project work separately (migrations, new office, NIS2 work). That does not belong inside a fixed retainer, otherwise it gets buried in the monthly price.
- 5Compare the total against an internal IT FTE (salary, employer contributions, training, holidays). Only then does outsourcing math become visible.
