Switching headset mid-call does not go smoothly

Bluetooth headset re-pairs, or the meeting stays stuck on the old mic. Small detail, big annoyance.

Try this first

  1. 1Connect your new headset first, then switch the input in Teams or Zoom. Not the other way around.
  2. 2In the meeting open audio settings (often a chevron next to the mic button) and explicitly pick the new device.
  3. 3Avoid mid-call swaps between Bluetooth and USB; those cause drop-outs.
  4. 4Prefer a wired USB headset for calls; Bluetooth for listening.
