VPN connects but corporate folders are unreachable
Connection says "green" but your network drives will not open. Almost always a DNS or routing issue.
Try this first
- 1In Explorer, type \\server-name instead of your mapped drive (X:, Y:). Works? Drive mapping is broken, not the connection.
- 2Open a command prompt and "ping server-name". Get an IP back? No IP = DNS does not work over your VPN.
- 3Fully disconnect and reconnect the VPN. Resolves a large share of DNS issues.
- 4Log off Windows and back in. Sometimes refreshes mapped drives in a new context.
