Print went to the wrong printer
Classic in multi-printer buildings or hybrid work. The default printer shifted, or another one is at the top of the Windows order.
Try this first
- 1Walk over and grab the document before a colleague sees it, if sensitive.
- 2Pin a default: Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers > turn OFF "Let Windows manage my default printer" and manually pick the right one.
- 3In the print dialog (Ctrl+P) the printer is at the top. Three seconds of checking prevents most of these mistakes.
- 4For sensitive prints: use "Secure print" / "Pull-printing" if your printer supports it. The print only releases when you tap your badge at the device.
When to bring us in
For offices with many printers and privacy needs we deploy centralised pull-printing (Universal Print, PaperCut). One-time setup, no more wrong prints.
