People want to print from phone, AirPrint or Mopria?
For most SMBs, AirPrint (iOS) and Mopria (Android) are enough. Both work on modern MFPs without app install. For secure print or per-user cost codes you need a vendor app or Universal Print.
Try this first
- 1On the MFP web admin, verify AirPrint and Mopria are on. Some firmwares disable them for 'security' while you want them on and the printer placed in a guest VLAN.
- 2Test from iPhone and Android. AirPrint works out-of-the-box typically, Mopria sometimes needs the Mopria app from Play Store if Android can't do it natively.
- 3For secure print or per-person accounting: use PaperCut Mobility Print or the vendor app (HP Smart, Canon Print, Ricoh Smart Device Connector).
- 4Expect remote workers to want to print too. Then you're at Universal Print or a cloud-print app, local AirPrint only works on office WiFi.
- 5Secure: place the printer on its own VLAN reachable only from office WiFi. Otherwise a guest can print across the company network.
