VPN does not work on hotel or cafe Wi-Fi

Many public networks block default VPN ports. The trick is to switch to a port they do leave open.

Try this first

  1. 1First sign in to the hotel portal (splash page) before starting VPN.
  2. 2In the VPN client try switching to TCP on port 443 if available.
  3. 3If not, share your phone's 4G/5G and use that hotspot.
  4. 4Avoid "open" Wi-Fi for work; use an ad-hoc hotspot from your phone.

When to bring us in

Travel a lot and hit this often? We set up a VPN profile over port 443. It passes almost every captive portal.
