2FA fails at VPN login
Time drift between your phone and the VPN server is reason #1. The 6 digits are time-bound.
Try this first
- 1Check your phone time. Must be automatic, not manual. Microsoft/Google Authenticator are very sensitive to drift.
- 2Open Authenticator, pick the account, watch the 30-second timer. Jumping fast or stuck? Time issue.
- 3Remove and re-pair the 2FA account. Ask IT for a new QR code (1 minute of work).
- 4Push-notification auth? Check the phone allows push (no "Do Not Disturb", no background restrictions on the app).
- 5SMS codes? Confirm the phone has reception. No network = no code.
When to bring us in
We can issue a temporary backup code for emergencies and re-roll the 2FA pairing. Five minutes of work; saves an hour of manual reinstall.
