Windows 11 keeps changing my default printer

Windows 11 makes 'last used printer' the default by default. Usually not what you want.

Try this first

  1. 1Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers > turn OFF 'Let Windows manage my default printer'.
  2. 2Then click the printer you want as default > 'Set as default'.
  3. 3Test by printing from Word; the right printer should be on top.
  4. 4On a laptop that moves between office and home, the toggle can be useful (office printer at home is awkward). Leave it on then.

When to bring us in

Not really our work; two minutes of fiddling. Call only if this is part of a bigger management question (per-location printer mapping via GPO/Intune).
