Copier touchscreen has frozen and won't respond
Almost always solvable with a hard restart. Queued print jobs usually survive.
Try this first
- 1Find the power button. On large MFPs it's sometimes hidden on the side or underneath.
- 2Hold 5-10 seconds to power down. If the freeze is deep, use the main switch (often at the back near the plug).
- 3Wait 30 seconds, power back up. Boot on big devices is 2-5 minutes; be patient.
- 4Returning frequently? A corrupt firmware update is a common cause. Vendor needs to look at it.
When to bring us in
Touchscreen issues are hardware. Recurring freezes usually mean a vendor service call. We don't do that work, but we can advise on contracts or replacement.
