Copier touchscreen has frozen and won't respond

Almost always solvable with a hard restart. Queued print jobs usually survive.

Try this first

  1. 1Find the power button. On large MFPs it's sometimes hidden on the side or underneath.
  2. 2Hold 5-10 seconds to power down. If the freeze is deep, use the main switch (often at the back near the plug).
  3. 3Wait 30 seconds, power back up. Boot on big devices is 2-5 minutes; be patient.
  4. 4Returning frequently? A corrupt firmware update is a common cause. Vendor needs to look at it.

When to bring us in

Touchscreen issues are hardware. Recurring freezes usually mean a vendor service call. We don't do that work, but we can advise on contracts or replacement.
