Our MFP doesn't print photos or brochures well enough
MFPs are for documents, not photos or marketing output. For modest photo volumes: a dedicated photo printer (Epson EcoTank, Canon PIXMA Pro). For brochures and presentations: outsource to a print shop.
Try this first
- 1Decide on volume. Under 50 sheets/month is cheaper on an Epson EcoTank Photo or Canon PIXMA Pro than upgrading the MFP.
- 2For brochures/marketing: get quotes from a local online printer (Drukwerkdeal, Print&Bind). Four brochures/year is usually cheaper outsourced than running on a colour laser.
- 3If you do print on the MFP: use glossy A4 photo stock in tray 2 with the right media setting. Acceptable for internal presentations, not for client deliverables.
- 4Real photo prints (portfolio, client hand-over) need an inkjet photo printer. Laser doesn't reach the colour depth.
- 5Don't keep ICC profiles on the MFP for photos. Suggests calibration the office MFP can't deliver.
When to bring us in
For ongoing marketing output (brochures, posters, client gifts), outsourcing is usually cheaper and better than buying a production printer. We can do the math with you.
