Setting up Teams Phone as a user
A phone number in Teams works once the license is assigned. The rest is on your side: devices, forwarding, and voice quality.
Try this first
- 1Open Teams > three dots > Settings > Calls. Is a number listed? Then the license is fine.
- 2Under 'Devices' set your default headset and microphone. Test immediately with the test-call button.
- 3Under 'Call forwarding' configure where you want to be reached outside business hours.
- 4Set your voicemail greeting and welcome message under 'Configure voicemail'.
- 5On your phone: install Teams and allow calling over mobile (otherwise it falls back to data and can stutter).
When to bring us in
If you do not even see 'Calls' in Teams, the license or assignment is missing; we handle that in the tenant.
