Setting up Microsoft 365 on a new phone
Outlook, Teams, and OneDrive run smoothest if you install Authenticator first and sign the others in afterwards.
Try this first
- 1Install Microsoft Authenticator first. Changing MFA after signing in elsewhere drops you into a re-prompt loop.
- 2Add your work account in Authenticator via the QR code shown by your admin or the Microsoft portal.
- 3Install Outlook, Teams, and OneDrive from the official store. Sign in everywhere with the same work email.
- 4On iOS, use the Microsoft apps rather than the built-in Mail app. Saves a lot of policy friction.
- 5Allow push notifications for Authenticator when prompted, otherwise MFA prompts never arrive.
When to bring us in
If you get 'cannot sign in, contact your administrator', send us the error code so we can check conditional access.
