Use refurbished iPhones for business: pros, pitfalls, how to inspect.
Refurbished iPhones (model -1 or -2) from Apple Certified Refurbished, Leapp, Forza, Swappie are a solid SMB route: cheaper, battery often replaced, warranty usually twelve months. Key check: Activation Lock free. A device with a previous iCloud account on it cannot be set up without that owner.
Try this first
- 1Buy from sellers with explicit business warranty (12 months minimum) and a clear Activation Lock policy.
- 2On receipt: in setup, do you see 'Hi' or an Activation Lock prompt? The latter means return.
- 3Apple Business Manager link: the refurbisher cannot always put them in your ABM, ask upfront, otherwise no automated enrollment.
- 4Battery state in Settings > Battery > Battery Health, do not accept under 85 percent capacity.
