Work mail on Android: Gmail app, native mail, or Outlook?
On Android Enterprise with Workspace: Gmail app is natural even if work mail is in Workspace. With M365: Outlook app, not Gmail. Vendor native mail (Samsung Mail, etc) we discourage, often legacy auth and no Modern Auth/Conditional Access support, the device is not recognised as compliant.
Try this first
- 1Workspace customer: install Gmail, add the work account via Settings > Accounts > Google > Work account.
- 2M365 customer: Outlook app, not Gmail for work mail.
- 3Mixed (personal Gmail + work M365): Outlook for work, Gmail app stays for personal, two icons.
- 4Vendor native mail: only for pure personal IMAP, not work.
When to bring us in
Employees still pick their own mail app? Via MDM we restrict work mail to Outlook or Gmail only (App Protection Policies).
