Pairing a Bluetooth headset mid-call without losing audio.
Trick: pair the headset to the laptop first, then switch the output device in the call app. Pairing while a call runs sometimes makes the OS grab the laptop mic back.
Try this first
- 1Pair via Bluetooth settings, not via the call app.
- 2Switch output to the headset in Teams/Zoom audio settings (usually bottom right during call).
- 3Do not yank both buds out, some true-wireless sets disconnect entirely.
- 4For calls longer than 4 hours, keep a wired backup, the battery dies at the worst time.
When to bring us in
Headset auto-switches between phone and laptop (multipoint): read the manual for connection priority, otherwise it keeps grabbing the phone.
