Use a personal mobile with softphone app as a work phone.

BYOD via softphone works fine if you accept the phone is sometimes in personal mode. Keep work and private separate, and set push notifications properly or people miss calls.

Try this first

  1. 1Install the official PBX app, not a generic SIP app, for push notifications that survive deep sleep.
  2. 2Enable work mode in the app for outbound with the business CLI.
  3. 3Set do-not-disturb hours inside the app, not on the phone.
  4. 4Define a policy: wipe the app on exit, via MDM or manual checklist.

When to bring us in

Confusion about answering on a personal phone: then a real business SIM with split billing is clearer than BYOD.
