Emergency 112 from business VoIP, does it work and is the right location sent?
112 works from nearly any VoIP phone, but location is not automatic. The provider sends the registered service address, which must be correct, and for roaming DECT or softphone it rarely is.
Try this first
- 1Verify the service address in the PBX portal per number or per phone.
- 2Set up separate trunks or registrations per location for multi-site setups.
- 3Instruct staff: on a 112 call, always state the street address, do not trust location data.
- 4Keep a mobile as emergency backup, especially at sites without a fixed line.
When to bring us in
Multi-site or many softphone users: this is a real risk, configure with the provider for explicit emergency routing per user location.
