Label printer (Zebra, Brother QL) on network instead of USB
Network makes the label printer available to multiple users and to server-side printing (WMS, Outlook, ERP). USB works, but when the USB host PC is off, the department stops.
Try this first
- 1For Zebra: use a ZebraNet print server or a model with Wi-Fi/Ethernet built-in (ZD421, ZT411, ZT231). Assign a fixed IP via DHCP reservation.
- 2For Brother QL: QL-820NWB and QL-1110NWB have Wi-Fi and Ethernet. Configure via web admin, assign a fixed IP.
- 3Install the driver per PC, not just on a server share. ZPL jobs differ subtly across driver versions and you want predictable output.
- 4For WMS/ERP integration: use raw mode on port 9100 with ZPL strings, not the Windows driver. Much faster and free of driver-update breakage.
- 5Secure: set the device admin password and isolate label printers in their own VLAN, or only allow WMS/ERP IPs to send jobs.
When to bring us in
For production environments with multiple label printers and WMS integration a short session pays off. We sort fixed IPs, ZPL templates and VLAN in one go.

- Print job stuck in queue, nothing happensA stuck queue blocks all subsequent prints. Cleaning takes two minutes.
