Rolling out new iPhones costs an hour per device, every time
Apple Configurator on a Mac works, but is per-device. Apple Business Manager (ABM) linked to your MDM makes a new device enrol itself on first boot. Difference: manual versus zero-touch.
Try this first
- 1Create a free Apple Business Manager account with a DNS domain you own. Apple verifies via a TXT record.
- 2Link ABM to your MDM (Intune, Jamf, Kandji). In ABM you generate a server token, upload it to the MDM portal.
- 3Ask your reseller (Apple, telco, regional supplier) to ship new devices directly into your ABM. Existing devices can still be added via Apple Configurator regardless of age. Note: the user can withdraw supervised status within 30 days.
- 4In MDM you bind an enrollment profile to ABM. From then on: open box, SIM in, power on, device enrols itself with apps and restrictions.
- 5Keep Apple Configurator for refurbs that did not come through a reseller, hardware diagnostics, and flipping a device into supervised mode.
When to bring us in
For 10+ devices a year, ABM pays back fast. We can set up ABM and the MDM link, plus liaise with your reseller so all future devices land correctly.
