Teams shows me as 'Away' or 'Offline' while I am clearly working
Status updates can lag minutes, and a second session on your phone often overrides the desktop one.
Try this first
- 1Check whether Teams is also signed in on your phone. A phone with the screen off marks you 'Away'. Close Teams there entirely.
- 2Click your profile picture > pick 'Available' explicitly. Manually-set status stays more stable.
- 3Quit and reopen Teams; after Windows sleep, status sometimes does not match reality.
- 4Wait two minutes after any change. Status does not sync in real time but in short intervals.
When to bring us in
Only escalate if the status stays wrong after these steps; it is often cosmetic and not worth deeper digging.

- Outlook crashes or freezes on large attachmentsUsually the mailbox cache is the culprit, not Outlook itself. Shrinking or relocating usually helps within ten minutes.
- Teams: they cannot hear me, or I hear nothingIn our experience Teams usually picked the wrong audio device after a Windows update or a new headset.
- OneDrive has stopped syncingThe cloud icon is grey or has a warning. Locally changed files are not showing up for colleagues.
