An ICS file with appointments will not import

ICS files from external systems are often subtly different. One missing field and the whole import is rejected, or worse, half-done.

Try this first

  1. 1Open the ICS file in a text editor. It should begin with BEGIN:VCALENDAR and end with END:VCALENDAR.
  2. 2Create a test appointment in an empty calendar first; import the file there to see if it loads at all.
  3. 3In Outlook: use the import function, do not double-click the file. Double-click opens one event, import handles the whole batch.
  4. 4Still failing? Ask the vendor for an ICS export in standard format without their custom extensions.

When to bring us in
