Our Surface Hub or Surface Hub 2S is approaching end-of-support and we are unsure what replaces it

Microsoft is winding down the old Surface Hub line and support windows are running out. The replacement is not a one-to-one product but a choice between Surface Hub 3, a Teams Rooms on Windows with a touch display, or a regular touch TV plus room bar. Not every organisation actually used the Hub features.

Try this first

  1. 1Check the model and end-of-support date in the admin portal or on the device itself, line that up against your depreciation schedule.
  2. 2Inventory how the device is actually used, only Teams calls and presenting, or whiteboard, OneNote and touch as well, that drives the replacement choice.
  3. 3Compare Surface Hub 3 to a Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows with a Yealink, Logitech or Neat front-of-room display, costs and flexibility differ significantly.
  4. 4Check if a plain 4K touch TV plus a strong room bar is enough, for rooms where the Hub whiteboard was never used that is often fine.
  5. 5Plan a data migration, any content on the Hub account and the room mailbox needs to move, and licences must convert to the new device type.
  6. 6Account for mounting and cabling, a Hub 3 has different dimensions and connectors than the old Hub, plan that before install day.

When to bring us in

A multi-room replacement is a good moment to standardise the whole room portfolio. Vectel runs the choice with facility and plans the migration without gaps in the meeting calendar.
