SIP trunk: pick registration or IP authentication?
Registration works behind NAT, IP auth is sturdier but needs a static IP.
Try this first
- 1Registration: PBX sends REGISTER with username/password
- 2IP auth: provider whitelists your public IP, no REGISTER needed
- 3Static public IP required for IP auth, so business fibre or static tunnel
- 4Combo possible but harder to debug
When to bring us in
Trunk drops randomly? Usually NAT keepalive or dynamic IP, not the trunk itself.
