Which codec: G.711, G.722 or Opus?
G.711 is universal, G.722 is HD audio, Opus is bandwidth-efficient and modern.
Try this first
- 1G.711 (PCMU/PCMA): 64 kbit/s, works everywhere, old-school quality
- 2G.722: HD audio, 64 kbit/s, both ends must support
- 3Opus: 6 to 510 kbit/s, top quality, not all trunks support
- 4Trunk usually forced to G.711, internal G.722 or Opus
