Pick internal short-dial extensions for a larger team.

Three or four-digit extensions, not two, you outgrow two. Reserve ranges per department so 'sales press 1' has no collisions.

Try this first

  1. 1Pick four digits (e.g. 1xxx sales, 2xxx support, 3xxx finance).
  2. 2Reserve special numbers: 9xx for system (voicemail checker, conference room).
  3. 3Avoid sticky numbers: do not give '101' to the director and '105' to the intern, hold ranges.
  4. 4Document in a spreadsheet or in the PBX itself, otherwise it gets lost.

When to bring us in

Existing PBX has a messy plan: a rework usually stalls on habit, do it at a new-PBX moment, not as a standalone migration.
