Vendor asks 'log in via Microsoft or Google?': which do I pick?
An SSO choice is a long-term choice. Once you are signed in via Microsoft 365 you cannot simply move to Google Workspace without strain.
Try this first
- 1Pick the IdP that holds your primary account. Work mail at @company.com on M365? Then sign in via Microsoft, else you end up in a weird hybrid state.
- 2Have both? Pick the one most colleagues actively use; SSO works better the more people follow the same flow.
- 3Document per SaaS which SSO source it uses; at IdP migration you will need this list.
- 4If the vendor offers 'sign in with email' alongside Microsoft/Google: always pick the SSO variant, passwords get lost.
- 5Test the logout flow once; some SaaS only logs out locally and keeps the SSO session open.
When to bring us in
If you choose Google now but consider moving to Microsoft (or vice versa): ask for advice, as migrating SSO sources can get expensive.
