Cash drawer will not open after sale.
The drawer is wired to the receipt printer via RJ11. If the POS does not send the kick pulse, the drawer stays closed. Often a setting per payment method: cash opens, card does not.
Try this first
- 1Check POS settings: which payment methods open the drawer?
- 2Test with a real cash sale, not just an 'open drawer' button.
- 3Inspect the RJ11 cable between drawer and printer.
- 4Try manual open via POS menu, does printer click?
When to bring us in
If the drawer never reacts, even manual: usually the solenoid is dead. Replacement is cheaper than service call.
