Cash drawer is a few euros off every night.

Small differences are normal: change errors, untracked tips, cash refunds. Above a set threshold (e.g. EUR 10 on EUR 1,000) it is structural and needs digging.

Try this first

  1. 1Always count the drawer by the same person, out of customer sight.
  2. 2Compare against the Z report, not from memory.
  3. 3Set a threshold: what counts as outside normal needs action.
  4. 4Log cash variances to spot patterns per employee.

When to bring us in

If you suspect theft, call your accountant and employment lawyer first, do not confront staff straight away.
