POS maintenance contract, worth it?

For cloud POS, most is in the subscription. A hardware maintenance contract is only worth it when you cannot absorb downtime (busy hospitality, multi-location). Then you pay for 24/7 swap units.

Try this first

  1. 1Ask the vendor what is in the contract: helpdesk only, or hardware swap?
  2. 2Estimate: one hour closed on Saturday, how much revenue lost?
  3. 3For one small shop usually unnecessary, buy a backup tablet.
  4. 4For hospitality with evenings, 24/7 contracts usually pay off.
