The disk feels unstable, I want to see SMART status
SMART attributes flag failing SSDs and HDDs before they break. Reallocated sectors and wear level are the key signals.
Try this first
- 1Run wmic diskdrive get status or use smartctl -a from smartmontools
- 2Watch Reallocated_Sector_Ct, Pending_Sector_Ct and Wear_Leveling_Count
- 3Compare SSD life-remaining with vendor tools like Samsung Magician or CrystalDiskInfo
- 4Schedule replacement when wear exceeds 90% or pending sectors climb
When to bring us in
If a warning threshold is crossed: image immediately and replace the drive.
