The disk feels unstable, I want to see SMART status

SMART attributes flag failing SSDs and HDDs before they break. Reallocated sectors and wear level are the key signals.

Try this first

  1. 1Run wmic diskdrive get status or use smartctl -a from smartmontools
  2. 2Watch Reallocated_Sector_Ct, Pending_Sector_Ct and Wear_Leveling_Count
  3. 3Compare SSD life-remaining with vendor tools like Samsung Magician or CrystalDiskInfo
  4. 4Schedule replacement when wear exceeds 90% or pending sectors climb

When to bring us in

If a warning threshold is crossed: image immediately and replace the drive.
