SSD performance is dropping and TRIM may not be running
Without TRIM the SSD holds onto stale blocks and write amplification gets worse. On modern Windows this normally runs automatically once a week.
Try this first
- 1Check status with fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify, expected answer is 0
- 2Force a manual run via Optimize-Volume -DriveLetter C -ReTrim
- 3Verify the last run was recent in Defragment and Optimize Drives
- 4For external USB SSDs: confirm UASP driver is present and forwards TRIM
When to bring us in
For a firmware bug that ignores TRIM: flash with vendor tool or RMA if still under warranty.
