OneDrive eats disk space despite Files On Demand

If files are pinned to Always Keep on Device they sync locally anyway. Per-file status varies and the UI hides it.

Try this first

  1. 1Open OneDrive in Explorer and review status icons per folder
  2. 2Right-click large folders and choose Free up space
  3. 3Disable auto-pin on whole libraries in OneDrive settings
  4. 4Confirm with fsutil that sparse files are actually sparse

When to bring us in

For stubborn local copies: reset OneDrive with /reset and sign in again.
