What does a new laptop for office work cost in NL

For pure office work (browser, Office, Teams) the sensible budget sits between a minimum floor and a sprint. Below the floor the lifespan collapses, above the sprint you pay for specs you do not use.

Try this first

  1. 1Define the role. "Browser plus Office plus Teams" is a different machine than "Photoshop, video, AutoCAD". In 2026 pure office is fine on a Core i5 or Ryzen 5 with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD.
  2. 2Under roughly 600 euros you get 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, often a poor screen. Works for two years, then stutters. Cheap on paper, expensive per month.
  3. 3Between 800 and 1300 euros sits the business sweet spot for office work. Lenovo ThinkPad L or T-series, Dell Latitude, HP EliteBook, grade A refurbished. Three to five years lifespan is realistic.
  4. 4Above 1500 euros it is usually Apple territory or high-end Dell XPS. Not needed for pure office. Justified for design, video, or macOS-only software.
  5. 5Always include dock, monitor, keyboard, mouse in the purchase. For office-plus-home that adds 200 to 400 euros quickly. Too often forgotten in a quote.
