Hosting plus domain plus business mail, what is the minimum budget
For a freelancer or small team this is solvable for a few tens of euros per month. The choice is about what you want to be able to do later.
Try this first
- 1Domain: a .nl at a reputable registrar (TransIP, Mijndomein, Versio, Hostnet) is around ten euros a year in 2026. Not the place to skimp.
- 2Hosting a simple website: shared hosting at a Dutch provider is normally a few tens of euros per month. For a WordPress site this works fine up to a few thousand visitors a day.
- 3Business mail: this is where NOT to economise. Microsoft 365 Business Basic or Google Workspace Business Starter both cost around lunch money per user per month. POP/IMAP via your host looks cheaper but causes deliverability and mobile issues.
- 4Do not bundle. A hosting package "with mail included" looks attractive but you share IP reputation with other clients and miss anti-phishing and SSO. Mail at M365 or Workspace, hosting separate, domain separate.
- 5Budget yearly SSL, DNS maintenance, and updates. At a serious host it is included; otherwise it is hourly work you forget to budget.
