What costs come on top of Microsoft 365 besides the licenses?
The license price is the tip. Tenant setup, policies, backup, management and add-ons often add up to more than the license itself in year one.
Try this first
- 1Plan for an external party to set up and harden, M365 is configurable to be secure but is not secure by default.
- 2Add a backup solution, Microsoft retention policy is not a backup per their own terms.
- 3Account for add-ons: Defender for mail filtering, Intune for management, Teams Phone for calling, sometimes in Premium but not Standard.
- 4Do not forget migration costs if you come from Google or another mail provider, and awareness training you will still need afterwards.
