What does security awareness training cost and how often
List prices are reasonably transparent. The real question is rarely "how much" but "do it or not", because without it every other security investment is worth less.
Try this first
- 1Tools: KnowBe4, Phished.io, SoSafe, or Hoxhunt. List price is public or via partners. Order of magnitude is a few euros per user per month for SMB tier.
- 2Format: monthly phishing simulation plus a short clip, plus a yearly deeper incident scenario. Monthly because once-yearly is forgotten in weeks.
- 3Count internal hours. An awareness platform without someone reviewing campaigns is a missed opportunity. An hour a month for analysis and a short internal recap is realistic.
- 4Insurers ask for it now. The policy questionnaire literally lists "do you run yearly awareness training". A no is a red flag at premium time.
- 5Start with a baseline measurement. Send a phishing simulation in month 1 without warning. The click rate is your starting point. Then measure if it drops over a year.
