Does an Apple Vision Pro or Meta Quest 3 make sense for our SMB work?
VR and mixed-reality headsets pay off for specific use cases (training, 3D design review, remote-assist with a technician), not for typical office work. The device is the smaller spend, management and content cost time and money afterwards.
Try this first
- 1Define the use case first. Recording work instructions for technicians, BIM walkthroughs for architects, a product designer reviewing 3D models are clear wins. 'Productivity in VR' as a generic goal is not.
- 2For industrial training and remote-assist, Meta Quest 3 or 3S with Workrooms, Immersed or TeamViewer Frontline usually leads. Lower price, wider app library, management via Meta for Work.
- 3For 3D model review and visualisation with Mac and iPad integration, Apple Vision Pro fits better if budget allows. Treat it as a development platform, not a replacement for monitor work.
- 4Beyond hardware, budget for licences (Workrooms free, Frontline or XR training platforms from tens of euros per user per month), support, and a Wi-Fi 6 or 6E AP in the room you will use it.
- 5Start with 1 or 2 units and a measurable 3-month pilot. If time saved or errors dropped truly land, scale up. Otherwise, keep them for demos and marketing and call it done.
When to bring us in
Want VR for mandatory safety training or certification, content development is a separate craft. We can help scope it and choose between off-the-shelf platforms and custom content.
