Is an Apple Certified Refurbished MacBook fit for business use?
Apple Certified Refurbished comes straight from Apple's refurb programme. Full clean, new battery and casing where needed, one year of Apple warranty, extendable with AppleCare+. For SMBs it is by far the safest way to buy Apple hardware at a discount.
Try this first
- 1Order from apple.com/nl/shop/refurbished, not from marketplaces or grey importers. That is the only path that gives you official Apple warranty and the right serial in Apple Business Manager.
- 2Ask Apple Business or your reseller whether the device is ABM-eligible. That is the requirement for zero-touch DEP via Intune, Jamf or Mosyle. Refurb usually is, but confirm before you buy.
- 3Expect 10 to 15 percent off new, sometimes more on previous generations. An M3 or M4 MacBook Pro 14 Refurbished is usually shipping within a week in the popular specs.
- 4Take AppleCare+ for Business within 60 days of receipt. That covers accidental damage and extends phone support to 3 years, crucial for field staff.
- 5Record serial and IMEI in Snipe-IT or your own register. Apple Refurbished has a different box label but the serial in macOS is correct and works for MDM enrolment.
When to bring us in
