How do we back up CRM data in HubSpot or Salesforce?

Many SaaS vendors don't offer native backup with point-in-time restore. What they ship is typically DR for their infra, not protection against your own mass-delete or a rogue admin. Tools like OwnBackup (Salesforce), HubSpot's own backup, or generic Skyvia/Rewind fill that gap.

Try this first

  1. 1Read your SaaS provider's SLA precisely. 'Backup' there usually means 'the data still exists somewhere', not 'you can restore a granular record from 30 days ago yourself'.
  2. 2List what you would actually miss: contacts, deals, custom objects, attachments, audit log. In Salesforce a lot lives in metadata (custom fields, validation rules, flows) that must be backed up separately.
  3. 3Pick a fitting tool: OwnBackup is strong for Salesforce, Rewind covers HubSpot, QuickBooks and Shopify, Skyvia does ETL-style copies into your own storage. Trial for 30 days before committing.
  4. 4For Salesforce: back up both data and metadata, and keep a sandbox where you can test restores without touching prod.
  5. 5Plan at least daily backups and 30+ days retention. User-initiated mass-deletes often only get noticed a week later.
  6. 6Test the restore flow for 1 record and a batch. Granular restore in Salesforce without the right tool is a manual nightmare.

When to bring us in

Multi-org Salesforce setups, sensitive PII, or strict compliance need a dedicated Salesforce admin or partner to design the backup-restore strategy. Stock tools don't cover all object relationships.
