Entra ID ships Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR). Set up well, it gives you instant relief and is safer than IT picking up the phone and resetting by hand.

Try this first

  1. 1Enable SSPR in Entra ID, pick auth methods (Authenticator + phone, or Authenticator + mail)
  2. 2Force registration on next sign-in, not "later"
  3. 3Turn on writeback for hybrid environments, otherwise it does not sync back to on-prem AD
  4. 4Communicate once with screenshots, otherwise people still call IT

When to bring us in

Without M365 Business Premium or Entra P1, SSPR is not included. Weigh the licence cost against your current IT hours on resets.
