Access point or camera does not get power over PoE
PoE (power over UTP) is convenient, but the source, cable, and device all have to speak the same standard.
Try this first
- 1Check which PoE standard your AP needs (PoE, PoE+, PoE++) and what your switch or injector delivers. A mismatch gives no power or half power.
- 2Try the AP on another PoE port on the same switch. Some ports are not PoE-capable.
- 3Test with a fresh short UTP cable right next to the switch. Long or poor cables drop voltage.
- 4Check the remaining PoE budget on the switch. If all ports are loaded, the switch cannot power another.
When to bring us in
For large PoE installations a stronger PoE switch or a power-budget plan is needed. We calculate it and help with replacement.
