NL and EN versions of the site, Google ranks the wrong version
Hreflang tells Google which page is for which language/region. Without it you get wrong versions in search.
Try this first
- 1Enable hreflang in your SEO plugin or multilingual plugin (WPML, Polylang)
- 2Per page: link the NL version to its EN equivalent via the language switcher
- 3Generate x-default for visitors outside your target regions
- 4Validate in Search Console > International Targeting
When to bring us in
Hreflang correct but Google still shows NL to EN visitors, could be a canonical conflict, dev needed.
