Refit or new office and we need to plan AV cabling
During a refit, adding the right cables costs almost nothing, after the fact it is damage. Plan generously, more conduit than you think you need, and fiber where you currently think you do not need fiber.
Try this first
- 1Per room, draw camera position, display position, mic zone and control position.
- 2For each room plan at least two Cat6a runs from patch room to AV zone, plus a fiber reserve, plus power on a separate breaker.
- 3Plan generous conduits, a 25mm tube is almost free during construction but asking for problems afterwards.
- 4For displays, plan power behind the display position, not only at standard wall socket height.
- 5Document everything, each room has a wall box with a label and a patch position in the comms cabinet with a label.
- 6Plan a final test by the AV supplier before the contractor closes the walls, repair after that is expensive.
When to bring us in
Good AV cabling requires alignment between contractor, AV integrator and IT. Vectel can deliver IT requirements as a build document in the spec.
