Choosing between running Zoom on the room PC or buying an MTR licence
A Zoom app on a regular PC works, but you lose one-touch join, calendar link and remote management. A real room licence is a few hundred euros a year and quickly repays in support hours.
Try this first
- 1Count rooms and how often they are used, a room used twice a week may not justify a dedicated licence.
- 2For rooms used daily, a Zoom Rooms licence or a Microsoft Teams Rooms Pro licence is the shortest pain.
- 3A room licence gives you a central management portal, firmware overview and direct platform support.
- 4Without a room licence you keep doing IT support on login issues, calendar errors and version mismatches.
- 5Compare the licence against support hours, a Zoom Rooms licence (order of magnitude tens of euros per month per room) easily beats two hours of tickets.
- 6Plan licence purchase in the same period as the hardware, ordering a Logitech Tap means licence too.
When to bring us in
Across a room fleet, Vectel can model licence mix and align with the existing Microsoft 365 or Zoom contract.
