Compliance asks if the camera can be physically closed when not in a meeting
A hardware shutter or physical cover is often a compliance requirement, software mute is not enough for some privacy officers. Not all models have it built in.
Try this first
- 1List which models already have a built-in shutter, Logitech Rally Bar Mini, Logitech MeetUp and Poly Studio P15 have a physical cover.
- 2On models without a shutter a snap-on cap or a slide sticker can be an acceptable workaround, document it in a procedure.
- 3In the room guide, document who closes the shutter and when, usually the last person leaving the room.
- 4For rooms with regular sensitive content, HR or board room, plan camera power-off via the room system.
- 5Combine with a mic mute LED that lights physically when the mic is open, that gives visual evidence for compliance.
- 6Plan a half-yearly audit, are all rooms still compliant and nothing added without a shutter.
