Want to share AV signals between rooms over the network
AV-over-IP, NDI for video and Dante for audio, replaces fixed matrix cabling. Scales well, but requires a properly planned network and QoS, otherwise drops appear.
Try this first
- 1List which rooms must share signals, board room to overflow room is a typical case.
- 2For video, NDI or NDI HX is the common standard, for audio Dante is the de-facto pro-AV mark.
- 3Plan a dedicated VLAN for AV-over-IP, the traffic is multicast and should not run on the office broadcast domain.
- 4Switches need IGMP snooping and correct multicast routing, otherwise broadcast storms.
- 5For Dante, a dedicated audio VLAN with QoS is nearly mandatory, shared networks introduce jitter.
- 6Pilot first, AV-over-IP is not plug-and-play and demands networking knowledge.
When to bring us in
For a larger site with several rooms and signal routing, Vectel can take the network design and the AV vendor together.
