Wish that lights and display turn on automatically when the meeting starts
It is possible, but it adds an integration layer. A room system does not drive lights itself, you need a controller that takes meeting-start as trigger and steers lights via DALI or KNX.
Try this first
- 1Check whether the building already has a controllable lighting system, otherwise this is a double investment.
- 2Look at which triggers the room system can emit, Crestron, Q-Sys and some Logitech models can talk to a lighting system over API or contact closure.
- 3Define the scenes, meeting start, presenting, meeting end, and the matching light level, otherwise you build something nobody likes.
- 4Plan a manual override, users want to step in when automation does not match the situation.
- 5Pilot in one room before rolling out to all, behaviour differs per situation.
- 6Document in the room guide what the automation does, otherwise people think it is broken.
When to bring us in
A clean integration between room system, calendar and building services is usually work for an AV integrator with a facility manager. Vectel can connect the IT side.
