POS printer stopped after an update.
Windows or macOS updates sometimes revert drivers. USB ESC/POS printers get a new COM port and the POS no longer finds them.
Try this first
- 1Open Device Manager, check which port the printer now uses.
- 2Change the POS printer setting to the new port.
- 3Install the official Star or Epson driver, not the generic one.
- 4Test print from inside the POS menu, not from Word.
When to bring us in
If it keeps failing, switch from USB to LAN. More stable, and updates affect less.
