POS printer stopped after an update.

Windows or macOS updates sometimes revert drivers. USB ESC/POS printers get a new COM port and the POS no longer finds them.

Try this first

  1. 1Open Device Manager, check which port the printer now uses.
  2. 2Change the POS printer setting to the new port.
  3. 3Install the official Star or Epson driver, not the generic one.
  4. 4Test print from inside the POS menu, not from Word.

When to bring us in

If it keeps failing, switch from USB to LAN. More stable, and updates affect less.
